Earlier today, publisher Fujimishobo revealed an anime adaptation of Sakaki Ichirou’s (author) and Ookuma Nekosuke’s (illustrator) fantasy light novel series, 「Hitsugi no Chaika」 (棺姫のチャイカ / Coffin Princess Chaika), on their homepage. Additional details is expected to be delivered in the September issue of Dragon Magazine — on sale July 20th.

The light novel series currently has 6 volumes to date – with the first volume debuting on December 18th, 2010. The seventh volume is slated for release on July 20th.

A manga adaptation was serialized in Shounen Ace magazine since December 2011.

Author Sakaki Ichirou has also worked on previous novel titles such as Scrapped Princess, Outbreak Company, and Strait Jacket.

*Synopsis:

Toru Acura, an incredibly lazy man with some hidden talents, has been forced by his sister Akari to actually go outside and search for work. However, he is in for a big surprise when he meets Chaika Trabant in the forest, and they are suddenly attacked by a monster! How will they survive? Who is this mysterious girl, and why is she being targeted?
